“Is Zechariah’s sampling distinct/unique compared to other prophets? Is it more than just consistent/known/understood imagery?”

“Is the imagery of 1/3’s in 13:8 sampled from Ezekiel 5? They seem to have the same idea. Or are they fully separate?”

“I wonder of the significance of Zec 13:8-9’s use of thirds and the two thirds cut off. My thought is that it refers to the Jews (or maybe whole land refers to all people) who are not saved and so cut off? e.g. Rom 11”

Dr. Jerome Jayasekera

Jerome was born in Malaysia, grew up in the US and spent time in Egypt. Having come to faith as a postgraduate student at uni, he loves the opportunities that uni life opens up to encountering Jesus. He is super keen to help everyone at uni, particularly postgrads and academics, find true meaning and life in Jesus. He loves spending time with his family, outdoor activities, and engaging in thought provoking conversations.
