CBS 50th Celebration

CBS 50th Invitation

CBS is turning 50!

Over many years, God has been working through people at UNSW. The foundation of CBS is prayer and proclaiming the crucified and risen Christ as Lord of all. From CBS, God has raised many servants for Sydney, Australia and the world. So, join past and present CBSers on campus to give thanks to God for his incredible kindness and faithfulness through CBS. We will look forward to the next 50 years (or until the Lord returns) of proclaiming Christ to future generations of university students.

Please join us and many others on Saturday 15th March 2025 at UNSW.

Saturday, 15 March 2025. 9am arrival for a 9:30am start. The day will conclude at 4:30pm.

It will be held on campus at UNSW at the John Clancy Auditorium. We will also be using other spaces around campus.

Everyone who has been connected with and who supports the ministry of CBS!! Current students, graduates, partners, friends from past years who have been part of Unichurch, Campus, FOCUS, St Matthias, KBS (and more!) are warmly invited!

Of course! Your whole family is welcome to celebrate together.

There will be a kids programme during the main sessions, co-ordinated by a great team of Safe Ministry trained volunteers. Please arrive at 9am to drop off your children. The start of the programme is 9:30am. The programme will cater for children from creche (children who are able to sit independently) to grade 6.

Registration for the children’s programme is essential. Please register before 30th January. There are limited places and may close prior.

We will pray and we will gather around God’s word. There will be time to catch up with new and old friends.

There will be 3 main sessions, with Bible teaching from Phillip Jensen, Paul Grimmond and Carl Matthei; as well as interviews with others who have also served with CBS.

The two morning sessions will be followed by lunch. During lunch, you can catch up with others; and also choose an elective about CBS ministry, led by current CBS staff. The third session, after lunch, will end at 4.30pm.

We’ll give thanks to God as we look back over 50 years and encourage each other to continue serving Jesus Christ in current ministries. We will also look forward to the next 50 years of campus ministry under God.

UNSW has free parking on the weekends so there will be ample space to park on campus. The best parking spots will be located at Gate 5, Gate 8 and Gate 11 (Botany Street Carpark). For those with limited mobility, dropoff can happen directly in front of the John Clancy Auditorium via Gate 9.

The Light Rail L2 and L3 offers easy access to UNSW.

Would you help us prepare by doing three things:

  1. Pray that the planning taskforce will intentionally prepare a great day full of fellowship, fun and God’s word.
  2. Mark the date in your diary and plan to come for the whole day if you can! Care for others by letting them know you can’t attend other things.
  3. Invite your CBS friends to join the CBS 50th Facebook group, and register early to help the planning team accurately cater for the number of people coming!

CORE
TRAINING

Because the Christian life is about service, CORE Training is a series of practical small group training courses. They will equip you to know and share what you believe, to read the Bible on your own and with others, to lead a Bible Study group, and help you transition from Uni to the rest of your life!

Make the most of your university years to be equipped to serve now and well into the future!

CORE
THEOLOGY

If God has made the world and the Bible tells us how we are to live in the world, theology is all about knowing God truly and learning to view the world with His eyes.

CORE Theology is a fun and engaging weekly seminar that won’t let you sit back with indifference. Wherever you are, we want to stretch your thinking and firm-up your foundation to live rightly in service of God and others!
